16th January: Unseen Text Analysis Tools

SMART START

Let's start with a 5-minute analysis of an unseen source. Consider how media language is used to construct representations in this 1960s print advert. Bullet point your response on a Post-It note and place on our learning wall.

THE BIG PICTURE

In today's lesson we will answer the following question;
  1. How can I use the text analysis tools to structure exam-style answers?
EXPLAIN & MODEL

PRACTISE

Use the Unseen Text Analysis Tool for print texts to draft a full response to the smart start question. Write your response in a Google Doc and, once complete, share the document with me. You will have 10 minutes to complete this task.

LEARNING CHECK

As a class, we will then review one of the responses, identifying strengths and, perhaps, suggesting further improvements. The remaining responses will be distributed between you and, using a green font colour, you will review them (as we just did as a class).

REVIEW

On your blog, post a copy of the analysis tools, the smart start image and then your response (with green suggestions, so I can tell which bits came from you and which bits came from someone else).

HOMEWORK

Don't foget that your photography portfolio must be completed and ready to share in tomorrow's lesson!
